During the coronavirus pandemic, grocery store workers have carried a heavier load than most, with everyone — sick or well — coming through their doors, dealing with panicked shoppers and endless questions about when toilet paper will be back in stock.
On Tuesday, April 21, employees of a Riverside Stater Bros. were the ones getting the food, after two businesses bought In-N-Out burgers for lunch.
“This is in our backyard, this particular store,” said Nichole Mowrey, spokeswoman for SERVPRO of Woodcrest.
SERVPRO, which restores buildings damaged by fire, water or storm damage, is one of two businesses that paid for the In-N-Out truck to stop by the La Sierra Avenue store. Also part of the treat was the American Environmental Group, an environmental consulting firm.
“At this store, some of these workers, they’ve been at the front lines and they’ve exhibited a level of customer service and calmness that made everyone at ease,” Mowrey said. “Whatever was going on in the outside world, they made everyone feel great. We wanted to do something special to make them feel great.”
